WLUR

Some of the best memories I have from college came through college radio. My campus station, WLUR, became a second home for me and other music lovers. I hosted a music show every semester on campus, and served as a music director during my junior and senior years.

I worked with another music director and our general manager to keep the station afloat. We worked together to lead the 60+ DJs who hosted shows every semester. We managed our modest budget to help the station succeed as a cultural asset to students and the community.

I helped lead our station’s blog, which served as our central hub for all new music in rotation on the station. I filtered through new records that came into our hands, assigning them for review to a team of 5-10 music reviewers each week, along with writing reviews of 2 to 3 of these releases myself.

I served as one of the leading advocates for the station as well, assisting with our PR efforts across campus. I worked with other students to organize promotional efforts to help spread my passion for WLUR across campus. Our team managed open mic nights, live on-air sessions with student musicians, social media, t-shirt sales, and more.
