I spent my first summer as a college graduate at Purple Strategies, a communications firm based in Alexandria, Virginia. Spending the summer near the nation’s capital added an exciting layer to the strategic communications work I had done in college and my previous two internships.
I worked with a few different clients during my internship, including three different S&P 500 companies. My work focused on public affairs and reputation management, with some investor relations, media relations, business development, and more.
Purple’s unique relationships with its clients presented unexpected opportunities to put my interest in government and politics to good use. In one case, a briefing I provided about a Congressional hearing helped prepare the investor relations team of a S&P 100 client for their quarterly earnings call.
Beyond client work, I worked with a team of interns to create a reputation management campaign for a mock client. We conducted qualitative and quantitative research to inform our mock campaign, culminating in a presentation for the entire organization at the end of our internship.
The sensitive nature of my work at Purple prevented any work I did as an intern from being presented externally.
